“I always work directly in front of my subject. There is a raw authenticity that comes from this proximity; the energy of the encounter becomes embedded in the paint.”
In GROUNDED, close observation meets an increasingly free handling of paint. Working with a palette knife, often on large boards outdoors, Faludy builds surfaces in which the weight of water, the structure of boats and the exuberance of flowers take on a vivid physical presence. The subject remains her anchor as she pushes colour, scale and the possibilities of paint further.
