EMERGE brings together Erin Raedeke and Michelle Maddox in a two-person exhibition that explores how observation shifts through memory, material, and process.
Raedeke’s work is grounded in sustained looking, where interiors and objects are held in a quiet, measured balance. Beginning from direct observation, her paintings evolve through reflection, allowing memory to shape the final image. Maddox’s paintings are more immediate and tactile, embracing the physicality of materials and the unpredictability of process. Forms appear and dissolve, held in a dynamic tension between control and openness.
While distinct in approach, both artists treat painting as an active form of inquiry. Observation is not fixed, but continually tested and redefined.
Following Raedeke’s 2025 solo exhibition, and marking Maddox’s first presentation with the gallery, EMERGE presents two practices in dialogue, where images are not simply recorded, but brought into being.
